Reflection: Anyone who has a goal and is determined to achieve it the final ingredient that they need is to have a positive attitude. With a positive attitude anything is possible, any dream can come true. When having a positive attitude you are walking the road to success, that road that will lead you to achieving your goal. For example if you keep a positive attitude throughout high school and determine yourself to graduate and go to college you will succeed.                            Health Information Specialist

Duties and responsibilities:

Health information specialists obtain post and analyze medical, work load, finance, and insurance data for patients. They insure that the information is properly recorded into medical records so practitioners can plan and evaluate health care provided to patients.

There are many jobs specialists for this field like registered record administrator, accredited record technicians, and certified coding specialists.

Health information specialist work in hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, physician offices, and many other medical settings.  

Salary: $20,000-$40,000

Educational Requirements:

Those who would like to become health information specialists should take high school courses in business, information management, science, math, and English.

Coding specialists need a high school diploma and a GED certificate. To become certified you must need to pass an examination.

Accredited record technicians need an associate’s degree from an accredited college program or from the American Health Information Management Association Independent Study Program. They must pass a credentialing examination.

Record administrators must have a Bachelor’s degree in this field and must pass a certification examination.

Reflection: In those times where we can’t stop thinking about something, it could be god or bad. We might be worried about the future or stuck in the past. We should always think of goodness to bring happiness to our lives. Ignore those bad thoughts that will bring you no good and appreciate the good thoughts. Health educators provide information on health and health related issues. They can assess health training needs and plan health education programs. They may specialize health concerns, illnesses, or work or training setting. Health educators may work as independent consultants or in health departments, community organizations, businesses, hospitals, schools, or government agencies. Health educators often:

·         Perform health training needs assessments.

·         Design and develop health education programs.

·         Publish health education curriculum.

·         Teach health in public and private schools.

Average salary: $20,000-$35,000

Educational requirements:

Students should take college preparatory courses during high school.

Health educators have, as minimum, a bachelor’s degree in health education. Many have master’s degrees. To be certified or licensed to teach health in public schools requires a master’s degree and successful completion of a written exam in many states.

Reflection: This quote is as direct as it can be, when we have bad thoughts even if we don't say them we are still hurting ourselves and if we have good thoughts we will fulfill ourselves. Genetic Counselor

                  

Duties and Responsibilities:

 A genetic counselor is a professional who helps people make decision based upon genetic information. They also help determine if they at risk of developing a genetic disease, like: heart disease and breast cancer.

Genetic counselors work with doctors, geneticists, nurses and social workers. They goal is to help individuals and families to make decisions about their health and help them find services that will supply their needs.

During a session with a genetic counselor he/she might:

·         Gather family history, past health problems, surgeries and family illnesses

·          explain how genetic diseases/disorders are passed down

·         Recommended that you and your family have diagnostics tests

·         Explain the results of genetic tests

·         Explore treatment options

·         Refer clients to other health specialists and community resources

Genetic counselors primarily work in prenatal areas and are sometimes hired by pharmaceutical companies.

Salary:  $65,500-$77,900

Educational Requirements:

 In order to become a genetic counselor, you must have a minimum of master’s degree in genetics counseling from the accredited U.S. program. Must pass examinations administered by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.

Students will learn about inherited diseases, the types of tests available and prevention steps to minimize their risk. Many students opt to earn undergraduate degrees in subjects like psychology, biology, social work, public health, genetics and nursing.

I don’t think I would like to be a genetic counselor because I wouldn’t like to give families or an individual bad news that they have a genetic disorder or disease.

Be the best person you can ever be but don’t make others feel low because no one is perfect.
