Attitude is the mind’s paintbrush. It can color any situation. –Anonymous

Reflection:
A person’s attitude can change any situation, you can be having a good conversation and you hear something you don’t want to hear and it’s up to you to ignore it and keep the happy flow or get mad and ruin the conversation. It’s hard to control our attitude especially since we react without thinking most of the time. Your attitude towards someone can change or help your relationship with them. It’s a matter of decision making, we have the power to think clearly about something and choose what attitude to respond with. I can personally say that I have struggled with my attitude because of situations I’ve been in. I do have a good and bad attitude but it all depends on what I’m doing. I try my best to let my bad attitude control me in a bad situation and it’s difficult, but in the end it all pays off.

“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” –A Proverb
Reflection:
As I’ve grown up I have had many friends and some have stayed and some have gone. I can admit that I did have friends that wanted to choose wrong and would pressure me to do it with them. It’s hard to find a friend that accepts that you do good and that will encourage you to keep doing it. Out all of my friendships I myself have grown wiser because I’ve learned to walk alone. I’d prefer to walk alone than to walk with a bunch of fools who only do wrong. I’ve had to let go of friends that did wrong for my own benefit because I didn’t want to end up like them. I know I don’t walk alone because I know a mighty God that walks with me and has always guided me in the friends I should have. I’ve learned that it’s better to walk alone and do what’s right and eventually someone will follow than to walk in a crowd where I’m putting my life in danger. Choose wisely on the friends you have and every decision you make.

“You can’t hire someone else to do your push-ups for you” – Jim Rohn

Reflection:

We choose our goals because we are going to pursue them. It must be us who pursue our own goals; it’s up to us not anybody else. We as people always try to depend on others to do things for us but in reality your friend isn’t going to reach your life goal, you must do it. We must take the step of courage and go after our goals and just try to send someone else while we’re in our comfort zone. We need to stand up and take action for our goals. For example I can’t make my friend do my homework just to get a good grade, I need the practice. I’m not going to send someone to go to college and study my profession for me. I can’t make someone go and work for me and earn the money for me. I must believe that I am capable of reaching my goal and take that step of saying I won’t give up until I succeed.
Everyone is capable of reaching their goals if they put their mind and effort to it. Choose the right.

Abraham’s Lincoln’s Act of Integrity

Reflection:
This video was about when Abraham Lincoln was traveling with a man, who offered him first whiskey then tobacco. Lincoln denied both and explained to the man that he made a promise to his mom since he was 9 years old. His mom was ill and was told she wasn’t going to get better, she told Lincoln to promise her that he would never use whiskey or tobacco. The man was surprised about his promise and apologized.

I believe that Lincoln had the courage to keep his promise and I admire him. Nowadays we make promises out of nowhere without an actual act of keeping them. We make a promise but since we keep it in our mind instead of our heart we easily forget and break it. Many make promises like Lincoln did about not smoking or drinking, but since there is more peer-pressure than courage nowadays it’s easy to break the promise and begin to drink and smoke. It’s all a matter of decision, it’s our choice to make promises and keep them and not just think about them one day and break them the next day. I myself have promised that I would not drink or smoke ever in my life, but I can admit that I have been offered but I’ve always said no because I need to keep my promise that I did not only for myself, but for my family. When I keep a promise I try my best to keep it, and most of the time I do because I want someone to promise me something and keep it as well. Choose the right.

“Kindness is the essence of greatness” – Joseph B. Wirthlin

Reflection: when a person chooses to do something with kindness and really mean it, it shows that the person has a great heart. People who are the kind tend to do things without anything in return but in the end they receive something way better. Being kind should be everyone’s priority because it will lead you to greatness. Many find it hard to be kind because they have hatred in their hearts and all that hatred leads them to failure, nowhere in life. Being kind is the best someone can be; kindness can change a person’s life. Choose the right and always be kind.
