“I will persist until I succeed” – Og Mandino

Reflection:
Persisting means to stay strong in your goal, even though there is difficulty around you. Life will brings adversities that will not only try to cause us to fall but to give up and when we persist no matter what, your success is just around the corner. This is a great quote to live by because our goals can be big or small but as long as we persist we will succeed.

My example of persisting is graduating high school. When I stepped in this school I determined myself to persist no matter what until I graduated and received my diploma. Throughout my years in highs school, difficult situations came into my life but I stayed strong and I’m almost done. These last months in highs school are actually the hardest and most stressful because I get this laziness (or what the teachers call it “seniroitus”) but I know I need to persist and I will succeed. I’m trying my best and I know that if I just in God, He will give me the strength to persist any difficulty.

Student Success Statement

“Nothing in the world can take the place of PERSISTENCE.
Ø  TALENT will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Ø  GENIUS will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Ø  EDUCATION will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
PERSISTENCE and DETERMINATION alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
-President Calvin Coolidge (30th president of U.S. 1872-1933)

Reflection:
Persistence is the key to success and there can’t be anything to take its place. Many have talent but are too afraid to use it, many are geniuses but are afraid to show it, and many have education but don’t know what to use it for. The only way to succeed in a goal is to first have determination to pursue it and no matter what or who comes along to bring you down, you always have to be persistent. Persistence is the voice that tell you to not give up when you what to throw in the towel. For the fact that we think were not gonna make it, we start losing strength and start giving up little by little. We all should have persistence in anything we do but most of all have faith in ourselves.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Osteopathic physicians use accepted methods of diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases. Although they practice in all branches of medicine and surgery like allopathic physicians (M.D.s), they differ by emphasizing the importance of the musculoskeletal system, holistic medicine, proper nutrition, and environmental factors in maintaining good health.

After three or four years of college, prospective physicians must attend medical school. Undergraduate requirements for admission to all medical schools include one year of basic chemistry, one year of organic chemistry, and one year of physics. Some medical schools also require course work in calculus, English, the humanities, or social science.

“The answers to these questions will determine your success or failure:
1. Can people trust me to do what’s right? Yes
2. Am I committed to doing my very best? Yes
3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated? Sometimes
If the answers to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail.
-Lou Holtz

Reflection:I can personally admit and say yes to all these questions because people can trust me and it’s not so much about the people but I trust myself and I know that I’m responsible to what I get myself in to. I always try my best in anything I do and that’s the only way I know if I’m good at something or not, by simply trying. I personally treat other how they treat me because it’s not so much about how I treat others because I treat everyone the same, I won’t act different if I don’t like them ill just be me. But if they decide to treat me wrong well it’ll go back to them exactly how it went to me. I know I’m not perfect but I try my best to always say yes to these questions. If I’m close to success or fail I’ll just keep trying until I earn my success.

“Never look to the ground for your next step. Greatness belongs to those who look to the horizon.” –Bud Greenspan

Reflection: one’s greatness comes to those that keep their head up at all moments, no matter the situation. For someone to look down, means that their ready to give up or their tired of the journey. The problem that many have is their so close to getting to the finish line but they start to murmur, give up, and let their tiredness of waiting stop them. When they stop losing patience they start getting tired and think that there are so many more steps when its only one left. In reality we let our minds take control over us instead of our desire of finishing. We must never give up on the journey of our life and no matter what happens, keep going, you will finish greater than when you started.

Reflection on JFK on physical fitness video:

What I learned about JFK was that physical fitness is important for everyone no matter your age or gender. We all need physical activity to be strong and healthy. He gave us advice when he said that physical fitness is the key to help us live longer. He wants everyone to interact in doing exercise because he cares about his people. I promise to eat healthy, exercise (because I really don’t, at all), stay away from drugs and alcohol and stay positive. I will do this for my own good so I can stay strong and live longer.
“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know what Greeks knew; that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.” –President John F. Kennedy

Reflection:

Physical fitness is the most important activity for a person to live healthy and strong. Without physical fitness the body won’t know how to move and the body will only function unless we are strong and healthy. This can be seen in reaching a goal, how do you reach goal? You first must plan what you want to become, how you’re going to achieve it and how hard are you going to work. You first must practice the profession you want to achieve before taking on the real world. We must feed ourselves in the way of surrounding ourselves with those who are positive and will encourage you with your goal. Stay strong even though it might seem hard because the harder it is the stronger and wiser you will become out of it.

Opticians may own their own retail store or work for an optical store. Some also work for optometrists and ophthalmologists who sell glasses.

Salary: $19,000-$40,000

Educational Requirements:
Students should take high school courses in physics, algebra, mechanical drawing, and geometry. A high school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin training as an optician. Student Success Statement

“No student ever attains eminent success by simply doing what is required of him/her; it is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction.” –Charles Kendall Adams, American Historian

Reflection:
In order for a person to achieve a great amount of success they have to work a great amount of time. With no work you won’t have any knowledge of what you’re supposed to do and you won’t have experience in doing it. Students have many goals and they must work hard to achieve them because you need action to achieve something. For example, since I’m a student here at LMHS and I’m a senior, I had a goal when I entered 9th grade to graduate high school, I stepped into school with determination to achieve it. Throughout the years I worked as hard as I could and I've made it this far just a few more steps and I will receive my diploma which is a symbol of my goal in life
.

“Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself.” –Henry Ward Beecher

Reflection:

Sometimes we have to stop depending on others to push us higher but now it’s our turn to do it. Hold yourself higher than you normally would even if you’re the only one trying too. Many people become followers instead of leaders when it comes to what level you’re in. Sometimes it’s hard to be a leader because not many will want to follow but always have in your mind that you’re leaving a trail for those that want to go higher. Don’t let everyone else’s expectations bring you down, be who you are, and if you want to go higher do it with a positive attitude.

Ophthalmic Technician

“Goal setting is goal getting. Set and get.”- Mark Victor Hansen

Reflection: Once you start to set your goals and you start pursuing them and it will take time to achieve them but eventually you will get what you worked for. Goals won’t be set by themselves you must have the mentality that you will do whatever it takes to reach that goal. No one else can set your goals and no one can get them for you. Until you start setting you will later begin getting. For example if I know I want to graduate then I should put it in my mind and determine myself to reach it bypassing all my classes and trying my best to be on time and to not be absent .When that day of graduation comes and I hear my name I will know that my goal has been achieved. We all have to have a positive attitude and have perseverance.
