Duties and responsibilities:
An ultrasound technician is a
medical professional skilled in ultrasound technology, or sonography. Ultrasound
images reflect patient’s internal soft tissues and organs and are generated
using high frequency sound waves. Technicians-procure images using a hand-held
device called a transducer. By applying the transducer to the target area, the
technician can conjure live images of the body; the images are recorded to be interpreted
by a physician at a later time.
Salary: $43,600 - $83,950
Education:
Students that would like to become an
ultrasound technician need a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. Students that
are still in high school should take computer, math, physics, chemistry,
biology and physiology.
